SecureWatch is a distributed NVR. Video is written at the site that owns the cameras. Operators watch it through a cloud orchestrator that relays playback — it is not a second copy of every frame sitting in our datacenter.
Edge nodes record on site
Each site runs an edge node. Cameras stream to that node. The node writes continuous record to local storage, applies the retention tier you licensed, and keeps recording if the WAN drops. Local administration stays on the node itself — see Install for networking.
The orchestrator relays playback
When an operator wants to review a clip, the cloud orchestrator relays playback from the node that holds it. The node remains the system of record. The orchestrator is how you reach many sites from one console without hauling every camera feed through a central NVR.
Encrypted control and relay
Control and relay traffic between node and orchestrator are encrypted. The node dials out — you do not open a special video port on the site firewall. Port listeners are documented under Install and Security.
Retention is a tier, not a hope
How long a site keeps video is a property of the licensed plan. Camera and site caps follow the published plan shape. Start small; raise caps as the fleet grows.
Updates from Rubix Hub
Node software updates are published through Rubix Hub. You do not drive a truck to each site for a routine upgrade.
